There are a lot of new games in developmentand many blur the lines between video games as well as other games.
Everyone is trying to get us to go out- or stay in -and play. It`s true. Peloton and Netflix, Zoom, TikTok (Amazon, Google, TikTok), Amazon, Apple, Google, TikTok, TikTok, TikTok, TikTok, Amazon and Google all explore or go deeper into video games.
What`s the matter?
The straightforward answer is that people worldwide already spend a lot of time and money playing video games, and established game companies and newcomers alike are looking at all kinds of digital games that interact to take advantage of our time and money.
I`m thrilled about this new development, even though my own gaming passion for video ended in the era of BrickBreaker for the Blackberry. It feels as if we`re at the midst of reimagining both whata “video game” isand what online idle time could be -as more engaging and socialmaybe, and perhaps less solitary doomscrolling. (Or I`m getting too caught up in this. Maybe it`s just be about money.)
Whatever the motivationgames will soon feel inexplicably. The new features available on Zoom — yupit`s Zoom — include games like trivia, poker and mystery games. Pelotonmanufactures exercise bikes that cost $2,500has announced a new game that lets riders use their pedals to control an imaginary wheel. Netflix has confirmed that it will add video games on its entertainment platform. Facebook, TikTok and Amazon along with Google are all promoting video games to us or selling subscriptions to games. (The New York Times is going bigger into puzzles and digital gamesalso.)
Video games have grown into a huge business and grew in popularity with the coronavirus epidemic. It`s not surprising that companies are more keen to acquire a piece. Accenture recently announced that games sold worldwide exceed total revenues from music and movies. This includes the sale of video games that are conventional for computers and consolessmartphones, games for mobiles, advertisements in games , and much more. Video games have cultural significanceand are a source of entertainment, as the Olympic organizers demonstrated this week by incorporating of music for games at the ceremony opening.
There is a possibility that we will have to alter our language because many new digital games aren`t the same as how we might traditionally define and imagine video games- those cinematic realms of PlayStation or Xbox.
Just as smartphones introduced us to simpler games that made use of unique features of phones like gyroscopes and mobile internet connections, a lot of newer games blur the distinction between video games and different kinds of social activities. Pokemon Go, Fortnite and Among Us are video gameshowever they also serve as hangouts for people with friends, pop-culture momentsand opportunities for political activism and much more.
What`s exciting about many of the newest game concepts is that they represent the end of an era where smartphone and online media often mirror what was previously available — many podcasts were similar to talk radio. Netflix was like TV and news sites on the internet were similar to newspapers.
Although games don`t always provide engaging social connectionshowever, they do provide a sense that something is happening. It`s more complicated to make digital new forms that are interactive and not just passively watching, listening or reading.
We will see more advanced gamesand technology-based products. This will enable us to make new obstacles for our bodies, minds, and social interactions. I find it all fascinating.
